Work has now progressed to the Palace Gardens, which were developed and opened to the public first of all in 2014 and have since become a much-loved community space for theatre events, family fun days, weddings and informal visitors – stunning and relaxing all year round. The #LeavesofSouthwell project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, will improve the paths and install power, Wi-Fi and lighting. There will also be a new Outdoor Learning Centre, better signage and interpretation (more news about that coming later in the summer), and expansion into the paddock area. New plants will echo the realistic carved Chapter House leaves as we create an area of relaxation, learning and reflection or prayer.
