Throughout December we’re inviting everyone who holds Southwell Minster close to their heart to support its future. Whether you cherish its history, its music, or its special place in the community, your donation can help preserve this wonderful place for generations to come.

We invite you to sponsor a candle this Christmas. You can dedicate a light in memory of a loved one, to mark a personal milestone, or simply to show your support.
Suggested sponsorship amounts
- Ten Christingle candles £50
- A large candle: £100
- Two Altar candles: £250
- An Advent candle: £500
- The Cathedral Chandelier: £1,000
Why Your Support Matters
It costs £3,000 a day to run the Cathedral, to preserve and maintain our sacred heritage. We receive no government funding, and the Church of England contributes only 25% of funds required to keep the Minster operating. As a charity, we must raise everything else ourselves.
Your donation will directly support both vital conservation efforts to preserve our ancient buildings, and the Cathedral Choir, who bring joy to so many of us during the festive season.
Thank you for supporting us
All who donate £50 or more to ‘Light Up the Minster’ will receive a beautiful Limited Edition candle holder created by a local craftsman.
You will have the option to collect your candle holder from Southwell Cathedral Shop, have it posted to you, or donate it to a local care home.
Where possible, please collect in person from the Cathedral Shop to save postage charges. Please allow 3 working days following your donation before collection.
