Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem is a sublime choral work and a powerful journey through many traditions of sacred music. Written in 1947, it is a relatively recent setting of the Latin Requiem, but has a timeless quality built on its incorporation of Gregorian chant. For this concert at historic Southwell Minster, the orchestra will be joined by choirs from regional cathedrals Southwell Minster, Derby Cathedral, Coventry and Leicester Cathedral for a impressive spectacle of the best of Midlands music-making.
