Four famous cathedral choirs are joining forces for what promises to be a spectacular concert at Southwell Minster.
On Saturday 8th February, the choirs of Southwell Minster, Coventry Cathedral, Derby Cathedral and Leicester Cathedral are teaming up for the first time alongside Sinfonia Viva, the professional orchestra of the East Midlands’ region.
The orchestra and choirs are performing the Requiem by French composer Maurice Duruflé. This imposing setting of the Latin mass has a timeless quality built on its incorporation of Gregorian chant. The audience will also hear a virtuoso performance from Southwell Minster’s Rector Chori Paul Provost, who performs Poulenc’s Organ Concerto. The orchestra also plays Vaughan Williams’ firm favourite Fantasia On A Theme By Thomas Tallis, which was especially written to be performed in cathedrals.
Tickets for this unique concert cost £10 to £25, with £5 concessionary tickets available for Under 18s, Students and those on Universal Credit or equivalent benefits. Free tickets are also available for Essential Carers accompanying a disabled guest.
Tickets can be purchased here or by calling 0333 666 3366.
