The Chapter House has been subject to a series of excavations and studies over the last couple of years. Join Philip Dixon, Cathedral Archaeologist as he explores what is now known of this fascinating building and discusses how our ancient ancestors created one of the greatest buildings of the 13th century; showing how its very existence was due to decisions by a new archbishop.
About Professor Philip Dixon
Philip started his career off by serving in the Royal Navy before studying Art at the Slade and Modern History at Oxford. Since then, Philip has been a lecturer in medieval archaeology in many universities including the University of Nottingham, Durham University and Christchurch, Canterbury. During the past thirty years, Philip has also been involved as a consultant archaeologist at a range of cathedrals including Southwell Minster, Ely, Lincoln, Selby Abbey and Leicester.
