A message from the Dean of Southwell

As the mother church of Nottinghamshire, the Minster is both a lively centre of Christian worship for the diocese, and the parish Church of the smallest Cathedral town in England. It has stood here for nearly a thousand years and is part of our spiritual and national heritage.

In addition to regular worshippers, concert audiences, school parties and guests at civic occasions, many thousands of visitors from the four corners of the world come to experience the tranquillity and the architectural splendour of the Minster.

Many wish to offer some regular contribution to the ongoing and ever rising cost of maintenance. The Friends exist for just that purpose. Members of the Friends live in locations as far apart as Africa and the United States, in addition to every corner of Great Britain. They are people who wish to maintain a connection with the Minster in some tangible and helpful way.
