Worship for Young People
Children and young people are welcome at all of our services but we do provide for their needs through the Junior Church, which meets monthly during the Sunday 9.30 am Parish Eucharist service during term-time.
We meet in Trebeck Hall from 9.30 am until 10.20 am where we enjoy games, discussions, stories, arts and crafts before we join the service in the Minster for Communion.
If you would like to find out more about the Junior Church do please contact: Fr. Matthew Askey, Minster School Chaplain for more information: 01636 817298 email@example.comJunior-Church-2019
Southwell Minster supports an annual series of House Groups. They provide an informal opportunity for members of the Minster community to get to know each other, learn and explore together questions about life and faith, grow spiritually, and feed through ideas and suggestions relating to Minster activities.
Each series runs from September to February, with a break for Christmas. Some seventy people meet fortnightly in groups of seven to ten, in people’s homes and elsewhere. Study guides are produced locally. Information about forthcoming series’ and opportunities to sign up are made available in August. The 2018/19 series is a set of theological reflections upon our renowned medieval stone carvings.
All are very welcome to join a group at any time. If you would like to, or would like further information, please contact Vicky Thorpe 01636 813222; firstname.lastname@example.org or Hugh Middleton 01623 411496; email@example.com
The Minster has two prayer groups where people come together to pray for clergy, individual needs and the wider diocese and world. Everyone is welcome whether they prefer to pray silently or out loud.
Currently there are two prayer groups:
- A contemplative prayer group on a Monday evening at Sacrista. For details please contact Susan Moses at Sacrista tel: 01636 816833
- A silence and meditation group in the Pilgrims Chapel at 12.30pm on Thursday. Do have a word with Kate Sartain regarding this group
