For Schools and Clubs
The Education Department holds a Sandford Award for excellence in heritage education from the Heritage Education Trust and a Quality Badge from the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, and organises visits for schools all year round to the Cathedral, Archbishop's Palace and Gardens and Potwell Dyke Grasslands, bringing all manner of subjects to life in original ways. From RE and history to the creative arts, our programme aims to support teachers in delivering the National Curriculum, the Agreed Syllabus for RE and the Understanding Christianity resource. Come as part of a small group and enjoy the quiet or be part of something big, such as our Time Travelling schools event.
We welcome visits from cubs, scouts, brownies and other groups for fun outings. We also organise an annual 'Discovery Day' for adults in September, when visitors are given the chance to choose workshops, tours or talks on a range of creative, historical or religious themes.
