Starting in celebratory mood we remember the Last Supper. The Gloria in Excelsis is sung for the first time since Ash Wednesday, and the last time before Easter Day.
The symbolic foot washing re-enacts Jesus washing the feet of his disciples, commanding us to love one another. The service ends with the dramatic stripping of the altars and the Watch, waiting with Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. For those who wish to stay, the Vigil continues to 10pm.
